D2 is a RIBA Chartered architectural practice working across Cheshire and North Wales, on private homes, commercial buildings and development sites. Much of their work involves designing around planning constraints and delivery risk, the kind of projects that need good judgement early on.

The practice was ready to move up a gear, towards larger, higher-value work, but the old website didn't reflect that ambition. Visibility was poor, there was little content and no case studies, so the quality of the work simply wasn't coming across. D2 needed a brand and a site that matched where the practice was heading.

We refreshed the identity, rebuilt the website on WordPress, directed a photoshoot, wrote the copy, and set up a retainer to keep building on it.

A refreshed identity

D2 had a logo worth keeping, so we refined rather than replaced it. We relaid it out, chose a considered colour palette, and pulled shapes directly from the logo to use as a graphic device, with a supporting pattern to match.

It gives the brand a consistent, recognisable feel across the site and beyond, and a more grown-up presence to suit the work.

Led by the work

Architecture is a visual business, and D2's work deserved to be seen properly. We directed a professional photoshoot across their projects and built the site to lead with it, putting strong residential imagery front and centre so a visitor sees the quality straight away. Clean, image-led layouts make the portfolio easy to explore and let the buildings do the talking.

A clear process

A big part of winning larger work is showing clients you can be trusted to run it. So we gave the process its own place on the site, setting out how D2 works from planning through design to delivery. It shows visitors exactly what to expect and reinforces the practice's expertise as both designers and architects.

Dynamic, without the trade-offs

We wanted the site to feel as considered as the work, so we built in moments of craft: a sideways scroll through the projects, a personalised cursor, and floating buttons that lift over the project cards. These give it a dynamic, premium feel without getting in the way of the fundamentals, so headings, structure and accessibility all stay exactly as they should be for SEO and usability. With around 85% of visitors on desktop, we designed for that experience first, then made sure it worked cleanly on mobile too.

Aiming higher

The goal was quality and scale over quantity. D2 wanted to attract bigger, more considered projects and stand confidently alongside larger practices, so everything we did was aimed at strengthening their professional credibility and appealing to the clients they most wanted to work with.

We started with two workshops, one on the business and one on the website. Together we mapped their audiences and personas, reworked the sitemap, and found clearer, sharper ways to talk about their services, so the site speaks directly to homeowners, developers and commercial clients rather than to everyone at once.

Words that do the work

We wrote the site, too. Working from the workshops, we shaped copy that repositions D2 around higher-value work, describes their services in a clearer, more confident way, and guides each audience towards getting in touch. We planned the content structure alongside it, so the site reads well and stays easy for the team to manage.

A partnership that keeps building

The work continues on a retainer. We produce ongoing social content, expand the case studies as new projects complete, and support D2 with email marketing and strategy. It keeps the site growing and the practice visible, building on the reposition well beyond launch.
